Muskies take early lead at #2 Kenyon

The Muskingum men's soccer team struck first at 2nd-ranked Kenyon on Wednesday afternoon. However, the Lords responded and handed the Muskies a 5-1 setback.

The Muskie tally came in the fourth minute on freshman Troy Veigl's first career goal.

Muskingum maintained the advantage until the 16th minute when Kenyon scored back-to-back goals in a 30-second time frame. The Lords added their final first half strike in the waning seconds of the frame to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Lords kept the Muskie attack in check, while posting two more goals of their own en route to the win.

Kenyon ended the outing with a 25-1 advantage in shots and 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

Senior Eric Riley played all 90 minutes in frame and allowed five goals and recorded four saves.

Muskingum (3-2) next hosts St. Francis of Indiana on Saturday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.
