Men's soccer records shutout win vs. Bluffton

The Muskingum University men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 shutout home win against Bluffton University on a hot and muggy Tuesday night in McConagha Stadium.

With the win, Muskingum moves to 3-1 overall and extends its current winning streak to three. The Muskies next travel to Oberlin College on Saturday, September 14. Game time is slated for 8:00 p.m.

Muskingum took a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute on freshman Cody Sprague's first career goal. After Bluffton's Matt Hardman-Zimmerman misplayed a header played back by his teammate, Sprague scooped up the loose ball and shot it into the open goal.

Muskingum freshman Andreas Pfefferkorn extended the Muskie margin to 2-0 with a strike in the 68th minute. Pfefferkorn took a pass from freshman Raul Alcala and beat a Bluffton defender and Hardman-Zimmerman. The tally was the sixth of the season for Pfefferkorn. The assist was the first of the career for Alcala.

The Muskies ended the outing with a 14-11 edge in shots and 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Mathias Buchner played the opening 45 minutes in goal and recorded two saves. Senior Will Hess played the second half between the pipes and made one save.
