McGougan's career day leads Men's Lacrosse to programs first OAC win

Junior Ian McGougan scored a career-best five goals to lead men's lacrosse to its first Ohio Athletic Conference victory in program history on Saturday afternoon at Heidelberg, 13-7.

  • The win marks Muskingum's first Ohio Athletic Conference victory in program history.
  • McGougan's five-goal outburst tied a Muskingum single-game record for goals in a game.

Game Notes

  • The Muskies scored 13 goals on 45 shots paced by McGougan's five goals.
  • Junior Tucker Haas, sophomore Ryan Stacey and junior Andrew Ward all finished with two goals each. Haas also tallied three assists.
  • Muskingum went 12-for-23 on the face-off with Haas recording a team-best nine wins. 
  • In frame, junior Phillip Dappen (4-4) played all 60 minutes and made a game-high 15 saves.
  • Muskingum forced 29 turnovers and went 26-for-32 in clear attempts. 
  • Heidelberg was led by the duo of Matt Wernerspach and Patrick McCarthy with two goals each.
  • The Student Princes ended the game with 42 shots.

  • The Muskies scored the first five goals of the contest en route to the 7-1 halftime advantage.
  • McGougan and Stacey led the Muskies in the second half scoring two goals each to propel Muskingum to victory.
