Men’s Basketball falls to OAC-foe John Carroll

The Muskingum men's basketball team fell in a road OAC-matchup versus John Carroll, 91-83.

How it Happened

  • After both teams struggled to find momentum early on, John Carroll grabbed a slim 15-10 lead with 15:00 left in the first half.
  • Building on their advantage, John Carroll used an 11-4 run to push their lead to 26-14.
  • Muskingum was able to trim the Blue Streak lead down to 26-20, but John Carroll proceeded to close the half on a 20-7 run and carry a 46-27 lead into the break.
  • Out of halftime, John Carroll picked up where they left off, extending their lead to 55-29 with 17:30 remaining.
  • Although Muskingum was able to trim the Blue Streak lead to single digits late, it wasn't enough as John Carroll secured their 91-83 victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by senior Alex Masinelli who scored 20 points and freshman Alex Coffey who notched a career-high 20 points as well.
  • Junior Noah Begue and freshman DJ Donnell both registered nine points, while senior Carson Carter and sophomore Bradley Russell each tallied eight.
  • PJ Flannery led the Blue Streaks with 22 points.
  • The Muskies shot 32-of-75 (42.7%) from the field, while John Carroll went 29-od-58 (50%).
  • Muskingum outrebounded the Blue Streaks 39-34, but John Carroll edged the Muskies in assists, 23-13.
