Men's Basketball narrowly falls to Wilmington
The Muskingum men's basketball team narrowly fell to Wilmington on Wednesday night, 84-82.

  • Senior Brandon Keyes led the Muskies with 19 points and six rebounds.
  • Senior Devon Peart cashed in 17 points and five assists.
  • Freshman Trey Singleton tallied 12 points and four rebounds.
  • Freshman MJ Smith added eight points.
  • As a team, the Muskies went 28-for-50 (56.0%) from the field and 8-for-19 from the arc (42.1%).
  • DaeShawn Jackson guided the Quakers in scoring with 19 points, while Will Patrick put up 18 points.
  • Wilmington made 45.8% of their shots (33-for-72), went 12-for-32 from the arc (37.5%), and ended the contest shooting 6-for-7 from the free-throw line (85.7%).

  • Muskingum jumped out to an early lead after sophomore Tyler Bardall drained a three-pointer, capping off a 7-0 burst with 17:36 on the clock. Wilmington responded with an 11-4 run, tying the game at 11 with 14:02 left in the half. Over the next nine minutes, the Muskies were able to outscore the Quakers (21-15) thanks to a triple from senior Jayson Peoples at the 3:50 mark, putting Muskingum up (32-26). Wilmington used an 8-2 spurt to tie the game (34-34) at the end of the half. 

  • In the opening minutes of the second half, the teams were neck-and-neck with neither squad leading by more than five points. Then, Peart knocked down two free throws, sparking a 9-4 span for the Muskies and giving them a seven-point advantage (57-50) at the 12:23 juncture. Wilmington retaliated with a 9-3 run, slicing the deficit to one point (60-59) with 7:59 remaining. Freshman Carson Carter hit a bucket from beyond the arc to finalize an 11-5 burst and push the Muskies' edge to seven points (71-64) with 4:56 left. The Muskies maintained a 78-73 cushion with 1:17 to play. The Quakers took advantage of a pair of Muskingum turnovers down the stretch to fuel an 11-4 charge to end the game and seal the comeback win.
