Men's Basketball stumbles against Heidelberg
The Muskingum men's basketball team stumbled against Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon, 92-78.

  • Freshman Carson Carter led the Muskies in scoring with a career-high of 18 points and hauled in five rebounds.
  • Senior Jayson Peoples cashed in 17 points and pulled down three rebounds.
  • Freshman Trey Singleton tallied 12 points and four rebounds.
  • Junior Cameron Miller added eight points and four assists.
  • As a team, the Muskies went 26-for-63 (41.3%) from the field and 13-for-31 from the arc (41.9%).
  • Dylan Woods guided the Student Princes in scoring with 23 points, while Myron Prewitt put up 21 points.
  • Heidelberg made 54.2% of their shots (32-for-59), went 8-for-21 from the arc (38.1%), and ended the contest shooting 20-for-21 from the free-throw line (95.2%).

  • Heidelberg jumped out to an early lead after Alex Arellano made a layup, capping off a 13-2 run with 15:01 on the clock. Peoples answered for the Muskies with a bucket from downtown, igniting a 7-2 span and closing the gap to six points (15-9) with 13:03 left in the half. Over the next six minutes, the Student Princes outscored Muskingum (18-15), pushing their advantage to nine points (33-24) at the 7:04 mark. Heidelberg maintained control through the last minutes of the half, entering the break with a 48-34 cushion.

  • In the second half, Peoples knocked down a triple to conclude a 22-8 spurt, tying the game at 56 with 12:23 left to play. The Student Princes retaliated with a 17-7 burst, extending their lead to 10 points (73-63) at the 6:32 juncture. Heidelberg rode this momentum though the final minutes of play, overcoming the Muskies with a final score of 92-78. 

  • Muskingum University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be sponsoring a Hoops for Hunger Food Drive on Wednesday, February 6, for the Muskingum men's basketball game against Wilmington. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. All fans will receive free admission to the game with a canned food or non-perishable item donation. All collected items will be donated to the New Concord College Drive Presbyterian Church food pantry.
