Dempsey named OAC Freshman of the Year to lead Men's Basketball honorees

The Ohio Athletic Conference has named Muskingum freshman Marcus Dempsey the OAC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year, while senior Joshua Keyes earned Second Team All-OAC honors and sophomore Jarrell Marsh was recognized with All-OAC Honorable Mention accolades.

Dempsey, an Honorable Mention All-OAC selection, is the second Muskie to receive the honor since its inception in 2010 (Marsh received the honor last year). The freshman has seen action in 26 games and started 25, while averaging 33.6 minutes per contest. He currently ranks second on the team and fifth in the conference in scoring averaging 16.5 ppg. Throughout his freshman campaign, Dempsey has netted 430 points and grabbed 105 rebounds, and erupted for a career-high 38 points against Mount Union on February 8.

Keyes captured his second All-OAC honor. The senior holds the Muskingum career blocks record (142), single-season blocks record (60), single game blocks record (6) and career rebounds record (714). He has tallied a career 23 double-doubles (points/rebounds), recorded 848 career points and grabbed 714 rebounds. The senior is averaging 12.5 ppg and a league leading 11.3 rebounds per contest.

Marsh currently leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference in scoring averaging 17.7 ppg. The two-time All-OAC selection has seen action in 26 games, making 24 starts while averaging 31.4 minutes per game for the Muskies. He has connected for 459 points this season, bringing his career total to 811 points. The sophomore ranks first in assists (2.7apg) and second in rebounds (5.7) among the Muskies this season.
