Muskingum football senior defensive lineman Tim Ousley was named First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and honored with the Paul Hoernemann Award for being named the top defensive lineman in the OAC. Sophomore kicker Gavin Costello also received First Team All-OAC honors, while senior running back Bernard Johnson was named Second Team All-OAC. Junior defensive back Brian Brown and junior punter Jarett Patton rounded out the Muskie honorees with Honorable Mention All-OAC accolades.
Ousley led the Muskies in tackles with 80 and was ranked second in the OAC in sacks (10 for 60 yards) and tackles-for-loss (14.5 for 67 yards). Ousley finished his Muskie tenure ranked first all-time at Muskingum in sacks with 28 and ranked eighth all-time in career tackles with 263. Ousley is the first Muskie to be honored with the Paul Hoernemann Award since Kevin Woods received the accolade in 1986.
Costello went 11-for-13 on field goals and was nearly perfect in extra-point attempts going 25-for-26 on the year. His long field goal was 41 yards, and he led the team in scoring with 58 points. Costello tied Vern Albery (1966) for first all-time at Muskingum in field goals made in a season with 11. He also received OAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades following his three field-goal performance against Capital.
Johnson finished the year with 424 rushing yards on 80 carries with three touchdowns and added 11 receptions for 107 yards. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry. Johnson also earned OAC Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after rushing for a career-high 172 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Muskies to a 38-21 victory over Wilmington.
Brown was second on the team in tackles with 64, had two interceptions, and ranked sixth in the OAC in pass breakups with eight.
Patton averaged 38.2 yards per punt with 11 fair catches and placed four inside the 20. He also logged a career-long punt of 71 yards against Mount Union.
