Football announces postseason team awards

Muskingum Head Coach Erik Ieuter has announced 13 postseason awards presented by the Muskingum coaching staff to numerous Muskie football student-athletes.

Senior linebacker Brandon Schon, who was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference, received three awards including Team MVP, Iron Man Award, and Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year. Schon led the Muskies with 93 tackles and registered a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Muskie Award was given to senior defensive tackle Staci Wilson. Wilson recorded 19 tackles, with 4.5 stops for loss for nine yards.

Senior running back Warren Wilson was named Offensive Back of the Year. Wilson ran for 419 yards and three touchdowns and averaged 4.6 yards per tote. He also had 23 receptions for 214 yards and four scores.

Defensive Lineman of the Year went to junior defensive end Tim Ousley. Ousley, who was named First Team All-OAC, made 67 tackles and racked up a team-best 17 tackles for loss for 74 yards and 7.5 sacks for 47 yards.

Sophomore offensive lineman TJ Boyd was honored with Offensive Lineman of the Year. Boyd garnered Honorable Mention All-OAC accolades after helping the Muskie offense average 340.9 yards and 21 points per game. 

Sophomore wide receiver Terry Geiger was named Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year. Geiger led the team in receiving with a career-high 39 catches for a career-best 674 yards and four touchdowns.

Sophomore defensive back Cortez McGinnis was honored with Defensive Back of the Year. McGinnis, a Second Team All-OAC honoree, recorded 52 tackles and had five pass break ups.

Freshman kicker Gavin Costello was deemed Special Teams MVP. Costello was a perfect 19-of-19 in extra point attempts, and hit four-of-five field goals. 

Freshman wide receiver Amin Shaheed was named Freshman of the Year. Shaheed caught 15 passes for 313 yards and a touchdown. He averaged a team-best 20.9 yards per reception.

Scout Offensive Player of the Year went to freshman wide receiver Jaylen Lowe.

Junior linebacker Quinton Gabbard received Scout Defensive Player of the Year.
