The Muskingum football team beat Wilmington to spoil the Quakers Homecoming on Saturday afternoon, 31-24. The win marked the first Ohio Athletic Conference victory for Muskingum Head Coach Erik Ieuter.

How It Happended
- Muskingum erased a 10-7 deficit early in the second quarter by scoring the final 10 points of the half to take a 17-10 lead into intermission. Freshman kicker Gavin Costello made a career-best 37-yard field goal, and senior linebacker Brandon Schon had a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown in the waning seconds of the frame to give Muskingum the lead. The interception and touchdown were the first of Schon's career.
- Muskingum extended its lead to 24-10 at the 2:58 mark of the third quarter on senior running back Warren Wilson's five-yard touchdown run. The scored capped off a seven-play, 33-yard drive that was set up by a Wilmington fumble that was recovered by junior defensive tackle Yannis Dailey.
- The Quakers cut into the Muskie lead early in the fourth quarter on a 69-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Barrett to A.J. Hightower.
- Muskingum responded with an 11-play, 73-yard drive that culminated with Warren Wilson's three-yard touchdown run. The score gave Muskingum a 31-17 lead.
- Wilmington pulled to within 31-24 on a Barrett 20-yard touchdown pass to Luke Richardson with 3:27 to play.
- The Quakers had one final chance when the snap on a Muskie punt attempt from their own 41 sailed over the head of junior punter Jarret Patton and was recovered by Wilmington at the Muskie 15 with 15 seconds on the clock. However. Barrett's first pass attempt was intercepted by senior defensive lineman Staci Wilson to secure the Muskingum road win.
Inside The Numbers
- Muskingum ended the game with 247 yards of offense, which included 180 yards rushing.
- The Muskie defense forced a season-high five turnovers. Muskingum corralled three interceptions and recovered two fumbles.
- Muskingum held nearly a 10-minute time of advantage (34:08-25:52).
- Muskingum churned out 18 first downs and was 6-of-15 (40%) on third-down conversions.
- Sophomore quarterback Brody Hahn went 3-of-12 for 36 yards with one interception. He also added a team-best 79 yards rushing on 16 carries with one score.
- Warren Wilson ended the game with 67 yards rushing on 16 totes with two touchdowns.
- Sophomore Terry Geiger led the receivers with one grab for 31 yards.
- Schon led the defense with 11 stops and one interception return for a touchdown.
- Junior defensive end Tim Ousley had 10 hits with one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss for nine yards.
- Sophomore linebacker Eric Moss and Staci Wilson each had an interception. The picks were the first of their careers.
- Costello ended the game 4-for-4 on extra point attempts and 1-for-1 on field goals.
- Wilmington ended the game with 294 yards of offense.
- Barrett led the Quakers going 17-of-28 for 237 yards. He threw for three scores and had three interceptions.
- DJ Chambers rushed for 39 yards on 14 carries.
- Hightower had three receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown.
- Tre'Quez Parks and Jaden Proffitt led the Wilmington defense with nine tackles each.
