Football gears up for 2018 campaign with a new talented and experienced staff

The excitement for the 2018 Muskingum football campaign continues to build under the direction of first-year Head Coach Erik Ieuter.

Ieuter, who was named head coach in early March, has assembled an experienced and talented staff to lead the Muskies during the fall. Nathan Roach (defensive coordinator/linebackers), Chris Shank (offensive line), Tyler Walker (defensive backs/special teams), and Michael Pannone (defensive line) will combine to form a coaching staff with high energy and expectations.

"I couldn't be more excited about the coaching staff that we've been able to put together," said Coach Ieuter. "First of all, they are all great people. When parents send their sons to play for us at Muskingum, they will have coaches that truly care about them and want to help them grow and develop as outstanding young men."

Nathan Roach arrived in New Concord after a five-year stint at Wartburg College and prior to that served as a graduate assistant at Division II powerhouse Northwest Missouri State University.

Chris Shank, a Muskie alum, coached at Muskingum last season and was an assistant coach at the University of the South prior to Muskingum. He also has coached at Division I-AA Lehigh University and Heidelberg University.

Tyler Walker was an assistant at Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he helped lead the team to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 State Championship. Prior to Catholic Central, Walker was an assistant at Davenport University and a graduate assistant at Division I Miami University

Michael Pannone was an assistant coach at Adrian College and served as a graduate assistant coach at Division II Grand Valley State University.

"Our coaches have a lot of energy and juice, and are great teachers of the game. They are all tireless and proven recruiters. Muskingum University is an easy place to sell and I am confident that our personnel will put in the work to bring in recruiting classes that will be a great fit for Muskingum. Our staff comes from championship programs. This winning attitude will no doubt help Muskingum football as we move into a new era."

The new Muskie leadership will make its coaching debut when Muskingum opens the season at Waynesburg University on Saturday, September 1.
