Football honored with eight All-OAC selections

The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that senior linebacker Chaney Fulton, senior defensive back Dorian Maynard and senior punter Samuel Green have been named First Team All-OAC. Sophomore tight end Granger Long, senior offensive lineman Christopher Hoffman and junior defensive lineman Chris Weck were honored with Second Team All-OAC honors, while senior running back Jordan Scanlon and senior safety Melvin Smith were recognized with All-OAC Honorable Mention accolades.

Fulton led the team and ranked fifth in the league with 77 tackles and recorded two interceptions, including one for a 30-yard touchdown. He ended his career ranked third all-time in career tackles with 355 and ranked ninth all-time in career sacks with 12.5. Fulton is a three-time All-OAC honoree (2014, 2015, 2016).

Maynard ended the season with 37 stops and ranked fourth in the OAC with three interceptions and second in the conference with a nine pass breakups. He also forced one fumble and logged two tackles for loss.

Green led the league averaging 41 yards per punt. He placed 15 punts inside the 20 and had 10 boots signaled for a fair catch. He ended his tenure ranked first all-time at Muskingum in career punting average with a 40.4 yards per punt average. Green beat the mark held by Rick Harbold of 39.2 (1964-67). This marks the third time that Green has received All-OAC honors (2013, 2014, 2016).

Long hauled in a team-high 39 receptions for 453 yards and two scores. He averaged 45.3 receiving yards per game and 11.6 yards per catch. 

Hoffman anchored the offensive line and helped the Muskies churn out 260.6 yard of offense per game.

Weck logged 49 tackles and five stops for loss. He notched 2.5 sacks for 15 yards and recovered one fumble and blocked one kick.

Scanlon led the Muskies in rushing with 495 yards and four touchdowns. He also hauled in 27 receptions for 195 yards and three scores. Furthermore, Scanlon led the team with 42 points.

Smith had 59 tackles, including 42 solo stops. He recorded six pass break ups, and had one fumble recovery, over forced fumble and one interception.
