The Muskingum football team celebrated Senior Day against top-ranked Mount Union on Saturday in McConagha Stadium. The Ohio Athletic Conference clash saw the Purple Raiders hand the Muskies a 44-0 setback.

Senior Day Recognition

• Prior to the start of the game, Muskingum recognized seniors Samuel Green, Christopher Hoffman, Chaney Fulton, Matthew DeAngelis, Griffin Degener, Cody Dent, Gerald Hall, Dorian Maynard, Brandon Peluso, Jordan Scanlon, Melvin Smith, Jordan Turek, Desmond Waden and Stetson Zumbrun.

Halftime Recognition

• At halftime, Muskingum honored veteran football assistant coach Jim Kaser. Kaser, a 1974 Muskingum graduate, will retire at the end of the season. His coaching career has span five decades, including the last 18 years at Muskingum. During his tenure, Coach Kaser has mentored, coached and taught life skills to thousands of student-athletes.

How It Happened

• Mount Union jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and took a 28-0 advantage into the break.
• The Purple Raiders completed the scoring with nine points in the third quarter and seven points in the final frame.

• Muskingum ended the game with 149 yards of offense and 15 first downs.
• Senior quarterback Griffin Degener passed for 75 yards on 9-of-22 attempts.
• Senior running back Jordan Scanlon rumbled for 43 yards on 19 carries.
• Sophomore tight end Granger Long hauled in five receptions for 49 yards.
• Sophomore defensive back Cle'Von Burch led the defensive effort with nine tackles.

• Mount Union churned out 550 yards of offense and 28 first downs.
• Quarterback Dom Davis went 17-of-24 for 320 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.
• Running back B.J. Mitchell rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns.
• Jared Ruth led all receivers with four grabs for 83 yards and one score.
• Zach Deer led the defense with eight tackles, while Charlie Dear and Austin White each added seven stops.
