Football powers past OAC rival Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum football team powered past Ohio Athletic Conference rival Baldwin Wallace in the second half by scoring the final 14 points of the game to beat the Yellow Jackets, 14-13

How It Happened

  • After trailing 13-0 midway through the third quarter, Muskingum mounted a 15-play, 75-yard drive that culminated with senior quarterback Griffin Degener scoring on a one-yard touchdown run. 
  • A key play on the scoring drive was senior linebacker Chaney Fulton's 36-yard run on a fourth-and three fake punt from the Muskie 44-yard line.
  • Muskingum started its game-winning drive at the 9:49 mark of the fourth quarter.
  • The Muskies orchestrated a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended with sophomore running back Warren Wilson scoring one a one-yard plunge. The score was the first of Wilson's career.
  • Following senior kicker Cody Dent's extra point, Muskingum led 14-13.
  • Baldwin Wallace then took possession at its own 25 with 4:51 on the clock.
  • The Yellow Jackets drove to the Muskie 33 before the Muskingum defense stood tall and held Baldwin Wallace to no yards on four straight plays to preserve the Muskie win.

  • The win was the first for Muskingum against Baldwin Wallace since 2005. The victory also marked Muskingum's first win at BW since 1989.
  • Muskingum is off to its best start since the 2011 season. That year Muskingum opened the campaign with a 4-2 record after six games.
  • Muskingum ended the outing with 242 yards of offense and 13 first downs. The Muskies rushed for 171 yards.

  • Baldwin Wallace mustered 321 yards of offense and 19 first downs.
  • Jake Hudson led the attack going 17-of-30 for 166 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also added 80 yards rushing.
  • Hayden Stinnett rushed for 39 yards on 12 carries.
  • Tyler Wolf led the receivers with two receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown.
  • Sam Goff led the defensive effort with 10 stops and one interception.
  • Zach Poudrier had nine tackles.
