Baseball splits home doubleheader against Mount Union

The Muskingum baseball team split their home doubleheader against Mount Union on Saturday afternoon. The Muskies fell in Game 1, 4-0, and then took Game 2, 6-2.

  • Junior Brett Carson pitched the entire game for the Muskies, allowing four runs off eight hits. 
  • Junior Devin Ryan, junior Chayce Lundell, freshman Ryan Schwartz, freshman Nick Congrove, and Carson each led the Muskie attack with one hit.
  • Eric Schilling and Corey White each led Mount Union with two hits.

  • Senior Holden Martin pitched a complete game for the Muskies, allowing two runs off six hits. He also notched five strikeouts.
  • Schwartz led the Muskie offense with two hits and two RBIs.
  • Carson, Lundell, and junior Trey Yoder each added two hits.
  • Senior Matt Stewart chipped in one hit with two RBIs for Muskingum.
  • Marlowe led Mount Union with two hits.
  • Dwayne Sumler started on the mound for the Purple Raiders and pitched the first four innings allowing five runs off six hits.

  • Mount Union got off to a 2-0 start in the first two innings of the contest.
  • Muskingum used a 5-0 surge to the lead, 5-2.
  • The Muskies added a run in the eighth inning off an RBI single from Schwartz to make it 6-2.
