The Muskingum baseball team fell to rival Marietta in a non-conference game on Wednesday night at Don Schaly Stadium, 10-9. All gate receipts from the contest were donated to the Marietta Bantam Baseball League.
- Records: Muskingum (11-24 overall), Marietta (18-19 overall)
- Location: Marietta, Ohio
- Muskingum scored nine runs on 13 hits, while Marietta plated 10 runs on 11 hits.
- Freshman Trey Yoder led the Muskies going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one run scored.
- Senior Marc Ibarra went 2-for-3 with four runs, one run and one double.
- Freshman Chayce Lundell, senior Ben Van Wey, and freshman Josh Cole all registered two hits. Van Wey and Cole also notched an RBI.
- Freshman Brett Carson started the game and went five innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on eight hits.
- Sophomore Will Maier took the loss after tossing 1.2 innings of late relief and allowing three unearned runs on one hit.
- Alex Page led the Pioneers going 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and one run.
- Brady Cotton went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one double.
- Brenden Lacorato secured the win after firing a no-hit eighth inning.
- CJ Kenworthy closed the game out in the ninth to earn the save.
- Marietta took advantage of six Muskingum errors to score six unearned runs en route to rallying past the Muskies in the eighth inning.
- The Pioneers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after three innings.
- Muskingum responded two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.
- Marietta plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.
- The Pioneers took a 6-5 lead in the sixth on an RBI double and added a run in the seventh.
- The Muskies charged back with two runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to take a 9-7 lead.
- Marietta tallied the final three runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth to turn back the Muskie challenge. All three runs were unearned following two Muskie miscues.
- The Muskies next host Mount Union for Senior Day on Saturday, May 4. First pitch of the season-finale doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Mose Morehead Field.
