The Muskingum baseball team and the Heidelberg Student Princes split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Mose Morehead Field. Heidelberg won the opener 7-6 and Muskingum claimed the nightcap, 7-6.
The Basics
- Records: Muskingum (9-12 overall, 2-4 OAC), Heidelberg (13-10, 3-3 OAC)

Game Two
- Sophomore Kyle Gannon fired five strong innings for the Muskies surrendering one run on three hits to claim the win.
- Freshman Thomas Green closed out the contest for Muskingum tossing two scoreless innings en route to the save.
- Muskingum was led at the plate by sophomore Ben Van Wey going 2-for-3 with three RBI's.
- Junior Eddie Harper also tallied three RBI's in the contest finishing the game 1-for-5.
- As a team, Muskingum plated seven runs on 10 hits.
- Heidelberg was led by Cory Jacobs going 1-for-3 with a homerun.
- On the mound, Marc Ochoa dealt the loss allowing one run on six hits through 4.1 innings of work.
- Heidelberg captured the 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning following a homerun by Jacobs.
- The Muskies tied the contest in the bottom of the second inning as Harper, senior A.J. Kazmierczak and Van Wey all tallied RBI's.
- Heidelberg tacked on two more runs in the top half of the third to reclaim the 5-3 advantage.
- Muskingum rallied as Van Wey singled to right field scoring two more runs. The Muskies capitalized on a Heidelberg miscue later in the inning to take the lead, 6-5.
- With the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Muskingum was able to plate the game-winning run as Harper singled to center field.
Game One
- Kazmierczak led the Muskies in game one going 1-for-1 with two RBI's.
- On the mound, junior Kyle Schmitgen tossed the loss throwing four innings allowing four runs on five hits.
- The Student Princes scored seven runs on 11 hits led by Parker Fonk going 2-for-4 with two RBI's.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Muskies claimed its first lead of the contest as DeVore hit a sacrifice fly to center field, 2-1.
- Heidelberg rallied scoring three runs in the sixth and three more in the eighth inning to extend its lead, 7-2.
- The Muskies got three runs back in the bottom half of the eighth and one in the ninth before Heidelberg retired the side.

- Muskingum returns to action Sunday, April 9 as they host non-conference opponent Penn St.-Behrend. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
