Muskingum senior Tristen Wiles and senior Jeffrey Burkholder each qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships to be held May 24-26 at the Veteran's Memorial Field Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Wiles will enter the javelin championship field ranked seventh in the nation. She qualified with her school-record throw of 145-5 that she set at the Grand Valley State Last Chance Meet on May 9. Wiles won the All-Ohio Championship and the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Championship en route to being the top javelin thrower in Ohio and earning All-Ohio and All-OAC honors.
Burkholder will enter the shot put championship field ranked 20th in the country. He qualified with his 52-8 heave at the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Championships that earned him All-OAC honors.
For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. The top eight student-athletes at the conclusion of each event will earn All-American honors.
