Newby and Devine named SAAC Muskies of the Month

The Muskingum Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced that men's soccer junior forward Trent Newby and women's soccer freshman forward Autumn Devine have been named the SAAC Muskies of the Month for September.

Newby leads the OAC in goals scored (8) and has tallied three game-winning goals. He also leads the team in points with 17 (8 goals, 1 assist). Newby was nominated as @HeroSports  Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week in Week 2 and finished in second in the national voting.

Devine tied the OAC record and set the Muskingum record for fastest goal to start a game with her strike in 14 seconds against Pikeville. She also recorded Muskingum's first hat trick (three goals) in a game since 2007. Devine leads the team in goals scored and points.

SAAC Muskies of the Month nominees are nominated by Muskingum coaches and voted on by SAAC representatives from Muskingum's 21 varsity sports.

The mission of SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity and communication between the student-athletes and athletics administration, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image on campus and in the New Concord community. SAAC representatives have dedicated themselves to helping and promoting their fellow student-athletes, Muskingum and the community. Their efforts have helped to enhance a tradition of involvement by Muskingum student-athletes.
