Briggs and Ferguson honored by SAAC

The Muskingum Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced that men's track & field sophomore athlete Darrell Briggs and women's track & field freshman athlete Hailey Ferguson have been named the SAAC Muskies of the Month for December.

Briggs led the Muskingum men's indoor track & field team at the Mount Union Toy Drive Invitational by breaking his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles. Briggs recorded a time of 8.52 to break his previous record of 8.59 he set in 2015.

Ferguson paced the Muskingum women's indoor track & field team at the Mount Union Toy Drive Invitational by setting the school record in the 60-meter dash in her first collegiate meet with a time of 8.33. The previous record was 8.39, which Deanna Dobos set in 2009.

SAAC Muskies of the Month nominees are nominated by Muskingum coaches and voted on by SAAC representatives from Muskingum's 21 varsity sports.

The mission of SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity and communication between the student-athletes and athletics administration, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image on campus and in the New Concord community. SAAC representatives have dedicated themselves to helping and promoting their fellow student-athletes, Muskingum and the community. Their efforts have helped to enhance a tradition of involvement by Muskingum student-athletes.
