McCaughan and Martin named SAAC Muskies of the Month

The Muskingum Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced that men's track freshman athlete Darren McCaughan and softball senior shortstop Kelly Martin have been named the SAAC Muskies of the Month for April.

McCaughan won the long jump at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships with a leap of 23-2, which is the third longest jump in school history. He currently ranks 21st in the nation.

Martin hit .400 with 10 RBIs, three triples, three doubles and two home runs. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases.

SAAC Muskies of the Month nominees are nominated by Muskingum coaches and voted on by SAAC representatives from Muskingum's 21 varsity sports.

The mission of SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity and communication between the student-athletes and athletics administration, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image on campus and in the New Concord community. SAAC representatives have dedicated themselves to helping and promoting their fellow student-athletes, Muskingum and the community. Their efforts have helped to enhance a tradition of involvement by Muskingum student-athletes.
