The Muskingum University Athletic Department has announced that Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Mark Stambush has been named the Muskingum Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Dr. Stambush earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Charleston, his master's degree from Ball State University and his doctorate from Saint Louis University. He began his career at Muskingum in 2005 and currently serves as the Chair of the psychology department. In 2018, Dr. Stambush was honored with the William Rainey Harper Award for Outstanding Scholarship. He currently teaches courses in social psychology, psychology of law, prejudice, statistics, and research methods.

"Dr. Stambush is a strong advocate of athletics and recognizes the educational value of the student-athlete experience," said Muskingum Vice President and Athletic Director Steve Brockelbank.

"I am excited for the opportunity to work with Steve Brockelbank and the Muskingum coaches to strengthen the relationship between academics and athletics on Muskingum's campus," said Dr. Stambush.

During his undergraduate tenure, Dr. Stambush was a four-year letterman for the Golden Eagles baseball team. He ended his career as a two-time captain and Academic All-American.

The FAR plays an important role on college campuses and at the conference level, providing oversight of the academic integrity of the athletics program and serving as an advocate for student-athlete well-being.
