Athletic Training and Medical Staff for 2023-24 include:

Parker Lee, Head Athletic Trainer

Parker Lee '19, a certified and licensed athletic trainer, returned to his alma mater in the summer of 2021 after receiving his master's degree in athletic training from Ohio University.

While at Ohio University, Lee served as a graduate assistant for Marietta College as well as Lancaster High School and was involved in multiple graduate research studies. During his two-year term, Lee evaluated injuries that occurred to student-athletes and created rehabilitation programs and return-to-play programs for each injury.

Lee graduated from Muskingum in 2019 with a B.A. in athletic training and health and fitness. At Muskingum, Lee completed a summer athletic training internship with the Cleveland Indians Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers, worked with John Glenn High School during the winter and spring sports seasons, and worked with various Muskie sports.

Bryan Shelley, Assistant Athletic Trainer 

Bryan Shelley, a certified and licensed athletic trainer, joined the Muskingum athletic training team as an assistant athletic trainer in February of 2022. Shelley earned his Master of Science in Exercise and Sports from Merrimack College.

Prior to joining Muskingum, Shelley served two years at Iowa Central Community College as an assistant athletic trainer and Head Athletic Trainer for St. Edmond Catholic High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa. While at Iowa Central, he covered the Tritons Football, Track and Field, and Men’s Rugby programs. During his tenure with St. Edmond, Shelley assisted athletes and parents with scheduling orthopedic appointments, had weekly evaluations with injured student-athletes, and provided coverage at all home events.

Shelley earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Mount Union in 2019. 

Emily Roberts, Assistant Athletic Trainer

Emily Roberts joined the Muskingum athletic training staff as an assistant athletic trainer in the spring of 2022.

Roberts is a licensed (Ohio) and certified athletic trainer. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in athletic training and minoring in music, from Muskingum University in 2020. While at Muskingum, Emily was a 3-year member of the women’s soccer team and a 4-year member of the wind ensemble. Her clinical rotations included working with Muskingum Athletics, West Muskingum High School, and Zanesville High School. Roberts earned her Master of Education through the School of Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies, specializing in kinesiology from Bowling Green State University in 2022. While at BGSU, Roberts served as a teaching assistant for MAT courses, served on the Exercise is Medicine On Campus (EIM-OC) Committee, and helped with BodPod testing; she additionally worked as a PRN athletic trainer for Mercy Health in the Toledo area, providing care in K-12 and community sports settings.

Roberts' past and personal experiences have inspired her interest in promoting the health and well-being of student-athletes and working with special populations. She presented her master’s project, a Critically Appraised Topic focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in athletes, at the 2022 Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association (OATA) Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium. Roberts is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Athletic Training (DAT) degree from Ohio University, where she will be working on a project focused on abdominal injuries and GI conditions in athletes.
